Robert James Stanard, 76, of Leander, Texas, formerly of Prairieburg, died Wednesday, July 9, 2014, in Austin, Texas, from a sudden illness.
He was born Aug. 24, 1937, to Lester and Rosina Stanard in Iowa County. He retired from Rockwell Collins after 33 years of service. After his retirement he served as mayor of Prairieburg.
He was a member of the American Legion in Central City and an active member of the American Legion in Pflugerville, Texas.
Survivors include his children, Dawn Stanard, James Stanard, Denise Stanard (Darren Megrew), Renee Stanard and Jennifer (Josh) Brown; grandchildren, Matthew Stanard, Christopher Stanard, Hunter and MacKenzie Brown; and brothers, Melvin Stanard and David Cress.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Kathy.
A Celebration of Life visitation will be from 1 to 2:30 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 2, at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home. Military honors will follow visitation at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery at 2:45 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the family.
