Kvapil, Linda Zahradnik
The service date and time has been changed due to unforeseen weather conditions.
Linda Zahradnik Kvapil, 59, of Littleton, Colo., formerly of Cedar Rapids, lost her brave battle with leukemia in the early morning of Thursday, Dec. 3, 2009 in Denver, Colo. Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at First Presbyterian Church, near Ely. Burial will follow in Rogers Grove Cemetery. Friends may call one hour before services Friday at the church. Brosh Chapel in Cedar Rapids is in charge of arrangements.
Linda was born July 10, 1950, in Cedar Rapids, the daughter of Lumir and Viola (Faltis) Zahradnik. She graduated from Prairie High School in 1968, and attended Iowa State University, where she obtained her BA in interior design in 1972. The summer following graduation, she married her longtime boyfriend, David Kvapil. After the ceremony they moved to Lincoln, Neb., where they established their longtime residence. It was there that their only child, Jared, was born in 1980.
While in Lincoln, Linda enjoyed spending time with her family, helping the Nebraska women's basketball team, and going on adventures in their old British cars. Dave and Linda moved to Littleton, Colo., in 2002, and they continued to enjoy outdoor activities and following local sports teams. Linda is survived by her husband of 37 years, David; son, Jared (Stacey); mother, Viola; brothers, Larry and Ron (Sandy); and her grandson, Chase.
She was preceded in death by her father, Lumir.
Linda will be remembered by her family and friends as a wonderful, caring individual who fought so courageously and was ultimately taken far too soon. She will be dearly missed by all those whose lives she touched.
In lieu of flowers, memorials contributions may be made to the Linda Kvapil Memorial Fund at any Wells Fargo branch.
