Fruehling, Erwin F.
Erwin F. FruehlingErwin F. Fruehling, 94, of Cedar Rapids, died Monday, July 27, 2009, at Mercy Medical Center following an extended illness. Memorial services: 11 a.m. Saturday at Our Savior's Lutheran Church. The Rev. Philip Jorgensen will officiate. Inurnment: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Arrangements by Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home.
Survivors include his sons, Gerald and wife, Sandi of Aurora, Colo., Conrad of Cedar Rapids, Eldon and wife, Judy of Mount Vernon, and Steven and wife, Martha; siblings, Richard, Wilmut, Loretta, Walter, and Eldor; eight grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Fern; and grandson, Shawn.
Erwin Fred Fruehling was born April 5, 1915, in Auburn, Neb., the son of William and Rosa (Deubler) Fruehling. He graduated from Peru State Teachers College in Nebraska. He was united in marriage to Fern Kubalsky on March 26, 1938, in Buffalo, Minn. She preceded him in death in 2006. He was a General Agent for Lutheran Brotherhood from 1946 to 1980.
Erwin will be remembered as a man who enjoyed his work, enjoyed staying busy, and was a loyal and loving husband, father, and grandfather. He was a member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church, and in previous years enjoyed bible study activities.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Erwin's honor may be made to Our Savior's Lutheran Church, or to a charity of the donor's choosing.
