Mitchel, Kathleen Marie
Kathleen Marie Mitchel, 63, of Cedar Rapids, formerly of Illinois, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family Sunday, Sept. 30, 2012, at Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House, Hiawatha. Gathering: 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 4, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Center, Marion.
Survivors include her children, Jim (Jill) Mitchel of Earlville, and Kathryn Mitchel and Robert Mitchel, both of Chicago; stepson, Greg (Sue) Mitchel of Northwoods, Ill.; grandchildren, James and Lauren Mitchel; and siblings, Charlie (Ginger) Hefner, Robert Malan and John Malan.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Steven.
Kathleen was born on July 19, 1949, in Palos Park, Ill. On Sept. 10, 1977, she married Steven Mitchel in Winfield, Ill. Kathleen was a wonderful mother to her own children and many others. She was a loving wife and companion. She enjoyed cooking, gardening, crafts, weaving baskets and most of all spending time with her family and dogs, Heineken and Nougat.
In lieu of flowers a memorial fund has been established.
A special thanks to Dr. Ghosh and the staff at the hospice house for the care given to Kathleen.
