Lake Macbride wake issue needs resolution

It's time that state legislators take a realistic look at the horsepower limitation issue affecting fishermen using Lake Macbride. There are many of us who are concerned about the requirement directing that from Memorial Day through Labor Day each year, the horsepower limitation goes from “no wake” to a 10-horsepower maximum on Lake Macbride only.
All other state lakes are “no wake” all season long. “No wake” would allow any size motor to be used, so long as it stays at or under the “no wake” limit. Then, it becomes a matter of enforcement, something the Department of Natural Resources doesn't do a very good job of presently.
To get any change moving, we need to contact legislators Nate Willems (nate.willems@legis.state.ia.us), as well as Bob Dvorsky (Robert.
Dvorsky@legis.state.ia.us) and let them know we want this change. Anyone interested in joining me in this process can email me at jonk2041@southslope.net or call on my cellphone at (319) 350-1880.
