Cedar Rapids man hurt in motorcycle crash
A motorcycle crash Sunday evening sent a Cedar Rapids man to a hospital.
Walter J. Dernelle, 55, lost control of his motorcycle around 6:45 p.m. on a curve in the 300 block of Rosedale Road SE, according to the Linn County sheriff's office. Authorities said Dernelle and his bike slid a few yards down the street before stopping.
Dernelle was transported to Mercy Medical Center in Cedar Rapids. His injuries did not appear to be life-threatening.
Dernelle, who did not have any passengers with him, was charged with failure to maintain control.
