Republicans are not mean-spirited, intolerant
The Gazette Opinion Staff

In response to Floyd Sandford's Sept. 2 letter, “Republicans overtaken by religious extremists,” I would suggest he understand what is going on in the party.
It is not being morphed into anything but a return to conservative values, which a majority of Americans agree with. Just because we do not embrace his left-wing radical ideology does not relate to being mean-spirited and intolerant. We are just tired of beliefs like his being thrown in our faces by an overbearing extremist group. The very tone of his opinion is a good example of this.
If left to Sandford and others like him, God would have no mouthpiece on earth. Sandford essentially stated judge not, lest we be judged. Sir, you are judging. Sandford would have us live with no consequences for our actions.
As for being happier working for the regime in Iran, I suggest he look to the leader of his own party and see who he is supporting in the Middle East - it certainty isn't the country that God said will be my people.
