Voters in the College Community School District on Tuesday approved a $15 million bond to build a new elementary school on the district's southwest Cedar Rapids campus.
The measure, which needed 60 percent approval to pass, received 1,004 yes votes, or 66.8 percent, according to unofficial results from the Linn County Auditor's Office. There were 498 votes against the bond for a total turnout of 9.22 percent of registered voters.
District officials can now move ahead with the design and bidding process, and hope to open the new school by the start of the 2015-2016 school year.
