Goedken, Darlene K.
Darlene K. Goedken, 82, of Cedar Rapids, died Friday, Jan. 25, 2013, at Mercy Medical Center after a sudden illness. Funeral Mass: 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at All Saints Catholic Church. The Rev. Jack Flaherty and Deacon LaVerne Flagel will officiate. Entombment: Mount Calvary Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home, where there will be a vigil service at 4 p.m., and after 9:30 a.m. Wednesday at the church.
Survivors include her husband, Florian; a son, Robert (Jean) of Overland Park, Kan.; two sisters, Fonda (Marlin) Wittman and Judy Yost, both of Dubuque; four grandchildren, Joel Goedken, Elizabeth Kellerman, Matthew and Rachel Goedken; and one great-grandchild, Audrey.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Norma Barnhart.
Darlene was born Jan. 23, 1931, in Guttenberg, the daughter of Sam and Mabel Morley. She married Florian H. Goedken on June 30, 1953, in Lamont. Darlene was a homemaker and faithful member of All Saints Catholic Church. She and Florian enjoyed traveling.
Darlene was a loving, caring, wife and mother who dearly loved her family and friends.
A memorial fund has been established.
