Lickliter discusses speculation
Mar. 11, 2010 4:11 pm
Iowa Coach Todd Lickliter discussed speculation swirling that he could leave the program or be forced out.
Lickliter responded. Here's what he said:
"My future is that I'm healthy, I have a great family, I love what I do, I've done it well and that's not in my hands."
When asked if he had heard a specific timetable, Lickliter said, "You think that has to do with me? You're asking me to answer on speculation. I haven't been told I'm not (the coach) so until I'm told I'm not, I am.
Lickliter said he has not met with Iowa Athletics Director Gary Barta to discuss his future with the program.
"He doesn't say anything," Lickliter said. "We don't talk about that. We just talk about the task at hand."
Barta released a statement Thursday afternoon but declined to talk to reporters. Here's what he said in the statement:
"“I'm so proud of our young men," Barta said. "It's been a tough season, but the future is very bright with this group.
"With the season ending today, I'll do what I do at the end of every year. I'll evaluate 2010 and make preparations for next season."
