Sobotka, Ann
Ann Sobotka, 99, died Sunday, Sept. 8, 2013, at Good Samaritan Center in St. Ansgar, Iowa. Funeral services will be held Friday, Sept. 13, at 11 a.m. at St. Mark's Lutheran Church in Oxford Junction, with Pastor Keith Larsen officiating. Visitation will be one hour before the service. Burial will be in Mayflower Cemetery, Oxford Junction.
Anna C. Hansen was born April 14, 1914, in Jones County, Iowa, the daughter of Bernard and Hedwig (Broderson) Hansen. She graduated from Oxford Junction High School in 1931. On Nov. 27, 1945, she married Raymond Sobotka in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
Ann worked as a telephone operator, beautician, store clerk and custodian. She enjoyed being a homemaker and cooking and baking and enjoyed playing cards. She was a member of St. Mark's Lutheran Church, St. Mark's WELCA, the Pinochle Card Club, Oxford Junction Senior Center, American Legion Auxiliary, and Royal Neighbors.
She is survived by a daughter, Diane (John) Ranbarger of Danville, Va.; a granddaughter, Stephanie (Scott) Duckert of St. Ansgar; two great-grandchildren, Carsen and Cade Duckert of St. Ansgar; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ray; a daughter, Donna Rae; a granddaughter, Kristin Ebert; her parents; three sisters and six brothers.
Memorials may be made to St. Mark's Lutheran Church or the Oxford Junction Senior Center.
