Erika Jones, 70, of North Liberty, passed away unexpectedly at Windmill Manor on Thursday, May 15, 2014. A celebration of Erika's life is being planned by her family for a future date.
Erika was born in Nauen, Germany, on Feb. 4, 1944, the daughter of Wilhelm and Ella (Bungert) Adler. She grew up and was raised in Germany, and on Aug. 5, 1965, married Lloyd Jones in Berlin. A short time after getting married, Erika and Lloyd moved to the United States, eventually settling in North Liberty in 1968.
For over 30 years, Erika worked various positions at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City and also worked for nearly 10 years at the Brick Haus German restaurant in Amana.
In her free time, she enjoyed collecting crystal, crocheting, going out to eat with her friends, and taking care of her loving cat, Felix. Most importantly, Erika loved spending time with her family, especially her two sons, John and Michael.
Survivors include her two sons, John Jones of North Liberty and Michael (Sarah) Jones of St. Louis, Mo.; and two brothers, Klaus (Rosemarie) Adler and Horst (Doris) Adler, both of Germany.
Erika was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.
