Waite, Ruth Ann
Ruth Ann Waite, 85, of Las Vegas, Nev., formerly of Cedar Rapids, died July 5, 2012, in Las Vegas. There were no services.
Survivors include her daughters, onnie Sue (Jim) Spencer and Carolyn Jane (Bill) Bolding; sister, Jane Greenleaf; a granddaughter and three great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Arnold Waite.
Ruth Ann was raised in Cedar Rapids, where she graduated from Wilson High School and married her high school sweetheart, Arnold Waite, in 1946. She worked at KCRG and WMT radio / TV stations before moving in 1961, with her family, to Las Vegas, Nev., where she continued her career as a radio station bookkeeper.
Ruth Ann became a national champion chrysanthemum grower, enthusiast, and judge who dazzled Las Vegans with her mums each year. She was a charter member of the Las Vegas Chrysanthemum Society and a 30-year member of the National Chrysanthemum Society.
