CORALVILLE -- Work is progressing on a $2.5 million expansion project at Integrated DNA Technologies, 1710 Commerce Park.
The Coralville City Council in March approved a $385,000 forgivable loan to assist the company with the building expansion. The company produces custom strands of synthetic DNA and RNA for research and development, which it sells in more than 30 countries in Europe.
Integrated DNA Technologies employs about 600 people worldwide, with 500 in Coralville. The company saw a 17 percent growth in revenue last year.
Integrated DNA's oligos are used in research labs, and the company is working with pharmaceutical companies to pair diagnostic tests with targeted pharmaceutical products.
The company also is working in biofuels research, in partnership with customers such as Monsanto Co., with facilities in the Corridor, and Pioneer Hi-Bred in Johnston,
