Minor, David Maurice

David Maurice Minor, 67, passed away Nov. 11, 2012, at his home in Indio, Calif., from a lingering illness.

He was born Dec. 7, 1944, to Maurice and Eileen Minor in Cedar Rapids. David graduated from West Delaware in Manchester and Wartburg College. He taught high school English at West Delaware and in Stockton, Ill., before moving to California in 1975.

Survivors include his parents, Maurice and Eileen Minor; brothers, Mark and Neil; sister, Elaine; and lifelong friend, Don Reynolds.

David traveled to Europe, Hawaii and the Amazon area on expeditions for the Natural History Museum of Los Angeles County. He wrote professionally and had articles and photos published in various publications, frequently in TERRA, a magazine of the museum.

He was an avid fan of cinema, spending many hours enjoying the classic old movies on TMC.

David loved to visit Iowa, not only to see family but to get his fill of rhubarb, pork tenderloins and mom's pecan cinnamon rolls.

A family graveside service will be held at a later date.

Memorials will be directed to hospice and the pulmonary fibrous association.
