Don’t call them entitlements
The Gazette Opinion Staff
Oct. 20, 2013 4:24 pm
Shame on The Gazette editorial staff! How dare you call Social Security and Medicare entitlements (“End the recklessness,” Oct. 9)? Your direct quote is “There can be no good outcome for fixing those entitlement programs when lawmakers are fighting each other under the gun of a fast-approaching deadline.”
Calling Social Security an entitlement program is a giant slap in the face of every hardworking American who has been paying into this program his or her entire working lives. We never hear anything about welfare running out of money. That's a huge entitlement.
The biggest entitlement of all are the
politicians in Washington. They've been sucking out of the public trough for years at taxpayers' expense. They should all be fired because they certainly aren't doing their jobs. They don't give a darn about what's good for their country. All they care about is what's good for them.
