Stout, Opal Inez
Opal Inez Stout, 75, of Marion, died Tuesday, April 19, 2011, at her home. Family will greet friends from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, April 22, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Center in Marion. Inurnment will take place in Illinois at a later date.
Survivors include her children, Timothy (Lori) Stout of Cedar Rapids and Courtney (Christina) Stout of Colorado; grandchildren, Ethan and Savannah Stout; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and brothers, Roland and Lyndel Schild.
Opal was born Nov. 20, 1935, in rural Carrollton, Ill., the daughter of Wayne and Opal C. (Busch) Schild. She graduated from high school in Greenfield, Ill., attended nursing school in Chicago, and received her B.S. in nursing from the University of Florida. Opal worked as a nurse for 40 years.
Opal attended Central Church of Christ in Cedar Rapids and also enjoyed BSF - Bible Study Fellowship. She liked cooking, camping, traveling, hiking, especially to Rocky Mountain National Park in Colorado, gardening, and spending time with her grandchildren. Opal volunteered at St. Luke's Hospital and the Marion Public Library. She loved to make holidays and birthdays special.
