Loehr, George
George Loehr, 78, a resident of Heritage Nursing & Rehab Center passed away from sudden illness in Mercy Medical Center on Sunday, Sept. 5, 2010. Graveside services: 1 p.m. Thursday at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery by the Pastor John Seitz. A visitation will be today from 4 to 8 p.m. at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home.Survivors include his children, Gail (Bill) Nix of Marion, Greg Loehr of Racine, Wis., and Sue Busch of Cedar Rapids; his grandchildren, Amber (Dan) Raney of Blairstown, Angela Niesz of Cedar Rapids, and Billy Nix Jr. of Marion; and his siblings, James (Doris) Loehr of Hale, and Paul (Dorothy) Loehr of Lisbon.He was preceded in death by his parents, and his siblings, Mary and Margaret.George was born July 17, 1932, in Anamosa, the son of George and Bessie Underwood Loehr. He was a self employed metal crafter. He loved animals, fishing, traveling and woodworking. George enjoyed helping people. He served in the Army during the Korean War.A memorial fund has been established by the family.
