Letter: Donations needed for Iowa Veterans Home

Thank you to those who graciously donate to the residents at the Iowa Veterans Home. We have over 530 residents with a variety of needs.
Soon we will be getting ready for Christmas for our residents. The Volunteer Advisory Committee is raising money for our Christmas Fund to purchase gifts for residents. Giving for Christmas will warm your heart and let each resident know that they were not forgotten.
Our daily needs for residents include these items: word search puzzles, full size shampoo, deodorant, body wash, candy bars, individually wrapped snacks, soda, and forever stamps.
Many questions have come up about clothing donations. Only new clothing is accepted with our greatest need for men's large sized clothing. We do not accept used clothing because we do not have the staff to process it, the space to store it, and we need to prevent pests such as bedbugs from coming in.
We request that you call ahead before donating at (641) 753-4406. Donation delivery address: Quartermaster, Iowa Veterans Home, 1301 Summit Street, Marshalltown, IA 50158-5485. Financial donations should be sent to the same address, attention Volunteer Services.
