Another Iowa loss, another quest for answers
Hawkeyes drop ball when it comes to Big Ten title
Final - Ohio State 68, Iowa 64
No. 8 Iowa continued its freefall, losing its third straight game in a 68-64 loss at Ohio State on Sunday afternon.
The Hawkeyes (20-8, 11-5) led by six points with 4:03 left but allowed a 10-0 Ohio State run to fall behind 66-62. The Hawkeyes cut their deficit to 66-64 on an Adam Woodbury layup with 41.8 seconds left and took over possession with 7.5 seconds left after Ohio State's JaQuan Lyle missed a 3-pointer.
But Iowa guard Mike Gesell, who scored 16 points, had his layup attempt blocked by Ohio State forward Keita Bates-Diop with 1.2 seconds left.

What a finish.
Congrats on the resume-building win,
Ohio State's Marc Loving was fouled and hit two free throws to ice the win.
Gesell and Jarrod Uthoff each finished with 16 points for Iowa, which has lost four of its last five. Ohio State (19-11, 11-6) ended the game on a 12-2 run.
Loving led Ohio State with 25 points. Bates-Diop had 19.

2:04 2nd - Ohio State 63, Iowa 62
Well then.
A 3 from Marc Loving, then a Kam Williams jumper give Ohio State the lead with just over two minutes to go.
Williams' shot was originally thought to be a 3, but was ruled a two after a long video review.
The Buckeyes are on an 7-0 run. They hadn't made a 3-pointer in the second half prior to Loving's make.
3:17 2nd - Iowa 62, Ohio State 58
Ohio State cut the lead to two before Peter Jok answered with a huge jumper on the other end.
Mike Gesell has been simply fantastic, scoring again off an aggressive drive. He has 16 points -- matching Jarrod Uthoff for the team lead -- and five assists.

The Hawkeyes have a chance here to put this away and make Tuesday's home game against Big Ten leader Indiana even more hyped than it is already.
Marc Loving (20) and Keita Bates-Diop (19) have combined for nearly 40 points, and will have something to say about that.
6:27 2nd - Iowa 58, Ohio State 52
Iowa's depth is quickly becoming depleted. Ahmad Wagner fell hard on his right hip and had to exit the game.
Then Peter Jok picked up his fourth foul on a questionable offensive call.
The game has picked up after an odd sequence of fouls. Dom Uhl's 3-pointer in transition gave the Hawkeyes their largest lead.

11:14 2nd - Iowa 48, Ohio State 46
In a span of 3:16, Jarrod Uthoff scored nine straight Iowa points, surpassing his seven from the previous 25 minutes.
He did it in a variety of ways -- at the charity stripe, on a drive, a jumper and a deep 3-pointer.
The outburst was much needed by Iowa, which is now shooting 50 percent in the second half.
Mike Gesell added to his total with a driving layup. He's having a great day, with 14 points on 4-for-6 shooting and four assists.
15:48 2nd - Ohio State 39, Iowa 37
Iowa's first 3-pointer comes 21:40 into the game via Peter Jok in the corner on the second chance of the possession.
The Hawkeyes scored the first five points of the half, but OSU quickly responded after a pair of careless turnovers to begin the second.
Jarrod Uthoff will have a chance to tie the game at the free-throw line. He's struggled since a fast start, shooting 2-for-8, including 0-for-3 from deep.
Half - Ohio State 35, Iowa 30
Ohio State closed the half on a 9-2 run, including two Marc Loving free throws with 0.1 seconds left to lead Iowa by five at the half.
The teams combined for 20 turnovers (OSU 11, Iowa 9) in a sloppy first 20 minutes of action. The Hawkeyes took best advantage of them, out-scoring the Buckeyes 13-5 in points off turnovers.
But Iowa hasn't made a 3-point field goal in seven attempts and is shooting 39.3 percent overall (11-28).
"Fran McCaffery has to feel like his team is running in mud," CBS analyst Dan Bonner said.
OSU shot 54.2 percent (13-24) in the first half, getting 13 points from Loving and 11 from Keita Bates-Diop.
Mike Gesell leads Iowa with 10.

3:29 1st - Iowa 28, Ohio State 28
Iowa's shooting struggles have continued Sunday, still in search of its first 3-pointer (0-5).
But Mike Gesell is taking a different approach.
The senior point guard has two straight dunks, one in transition followed by a punishing one-handed slam that put the Hawkeyes up two at the time.
Gesell has 10 points, but just picked up his second foul.
7:16 1st - Iowa 20, Ohio State 19
Turnovers continue to plague the Buckeyes more than the Hawkeyes. Both teams have six, but Iowa has nine points off them to Ohio State's three.
Just before the media timeout, Ahmad Wagner saved a ball from going out of bounds, and Anthony Clemmons was able to tip it to Dom Uhl for a dunk.
Then on a 2-on-1 break, Clemmons hit Gesell, who was fouled and made both free throws.
11:56 1st - Iowa 13, Ohio State 12
Iowa came out of the first media timeout on an 8-0 run to go up five, getting baskets from Jarrod Uthoff (and two free throws), Anthony Clemmons -- off a breakaway steal -- and Mike Gesell.
Uthoff and Marc Loving have gone back and forth, OSU's Loving with eight points and Iowa's Uthoff with seven so far.
15:40 1st - Ohio State 7, Iowa 4
Off to an ugly start in Columbus, with each team turning it over three times prior to the first media timeout.
The game's first two minutes saw zero points before Mickey Mitchell and Jarrod Uthoff traded baskets.
Marc Loving's 3-pointer made it 5-2 Buckeyes. Iowa has not led.
