Safety measures are not reassuring

Even though I pay state and federal taxes, my phone calls, emails and texts are recorded and saved. Large companies steal, buy and find information on me to use against me. Somewhere there's a large building with a file of all the transactions of my life and personal details about my family and me.

Our state legislatures want to have the state decorated with drones in the sky and traffic cameras on every corner all for the sake of revenue, under the guise of safety. I don't feel safer knowing that the implementation of traffic cameras has been poorly executed.

On Interstate 380 coming into Cedar Rapids, there's only one small sign on the far right-hand corner warning motorists that this area is camera enforced. One sign. It isn't neon orange, lighted or overhead so all motorists can see it easily when driving in a heavily congested three-lane interstate. The speed changes three times in that area, and the real result is they too are poorly marked and in all essence are entrapment.

We are made to believe that these cameras will be restricted. Yet, the city planners and elected officials of our state and counties have decided that safety is better than privacy.
