Joseph William Yanda, 75, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, died Saturday, May 1, 2021, at the Dennis & Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy in Hiawatha, Iowa. A graveside will be held at a later date at Oak Hill Cemetery in Cedar Rapids.
Joseph was born on Aug. 16, 1945, in Cedar Rapids, the son of Donavon and Anne (Long) Yanda. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1963-1967 during the Vietnam War. Joseph settled in California before moving back to Cedar Rapids 14 years ago. He enjoyed working on cars with his brother Steve.
Survivors include his children, Kade Yanda of Cedar Rapids, Hope Armstrong (Travis Dolan) of Urbana, Iowa, and Gary (Amanda) Yanda of Citrus Heights, Calif.; 10 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and sisters, Donna White, Dana Yanda and Julie Yanda, all of Cedar Rapids.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Donavon and Anne Yanda; brothers, Steve and Kenny Yanda; and brother-in-law, Dale White.
