Benter, Irvin
Irvin Benter, 89, formerly of Hopkinton, died Tuesday, Jan. 25, 2011, at Shady Rest Care Center, Cascade, following an extended illness. Funeral services will be held 10:30 Saturday morning, Jan. 29, at St. John Lutheran Church, Hopkinton, with interment in Hopkinton Cemetery, with military honors. The Rev. Paul Finger will officiate at the services. Friends may call from 4 until 8 p.m. Friday at Goettsch Funeral Home, Hopkinton.
Surviving are his wife of 68 years, Vivien Benter, Monticello; four children, Pam (Larry) Schnittjer, West Liberty, James (Junelle) Benter, Monticello, David (Ann) Benter, Omaha, Neb., and Kathy (Richard) Murray, Decorah; a sister, Janelle Knockle, Marion; 15 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, a sister and a grandson.
