Just think of ratings no political ads would get

Do you have trouble trying to watch the local news on television because of all the political ads? Do you mute the sound for any or all of those ads? Do you look away, only to find later that you are missing what you tuned in to see to begin with, because you averted your attention?
Hurrah for Citizens United (Supreme Court ruling) and failed bipartisan efforts toward campaign spending reform. Thanks for nothing, is more like it. Big money once again cheapens your lifestyle when you merely wanted to see what's on the local news. During this election cycle, political and special interest groups have spent over a half-billion dollars on these ads and it's not even Labor Day yet!
Just imagine if a local TV news entity said “no” to the big political and special interest money and didn't run those ads. Everyone would be watching that channel.
