Drexler, Donald H.
Donald H. Drexler, 89, of Marion, formerly of Central City, died Sunday, July 11, 2010, after a long illness. At Don's request, there will be no visitation or services. Private inurnment: Center Point Cemetery.
He is survived by his wife of 68 years; a daughter, Donna (Fred) Aljets of Marion; a grandson, Paul (Nicole) Aljets of Phoenix; a granddaughter, Myndi (Chris) Sobotka of Cedar Rapids; and two great-grandchildren, Joey and Tabitha Aljets of Phoenix.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Wayne; and a sister, Helen Repstein.
He was born the son of Henry and Irma (McFarlin) Drexler in rural Central City on Nov. 20, 1920. He was married to Lila Hills on June 27, 1942, and spent his entire life in Central City until ill health caused him to move to his daughter's home in Marion. He was a World War II veteran, with 3 ½ years of service, two of which were spent in the European Theater. He was owner-operator of Don's Standard Service in Central City for 17 years. After selling the business he began a career in auctioneering, which he pursued for 37 years.
