Holdgrafer, Henry B.

Henry B. Holdgrafer, 96, of Marion, died Sunday, Jan. 3, 2010, at Mercy Medical Center, Cedar Rapids, of natural causes. Funeral mass: 10:30 a.m. Friday, St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Marion. The family will greet friends from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Center, Marion, with a vigil service beginning at 6 p.m. Burial: Mount Calvary Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.

Survivors include his wife, Eveyln; son, Dennis (Ann) Holdgrafer of Marion; daughter, Joleen Holdgrafer of Marion; one grandchild, Meghan Holdgrafer; and siblings, Ann Berding of Clinton, Gert Fogg of Clinton, Bernice Unruh of Goose Lake, and Raymond Holdgrafer of Gig Harbor, Wash.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and one brother, Edward Holdgrafer.

Henry was born June 1, 1913, the son of Clem and Louise (Droste) Holdgrafer, in Clinton, Iowa. He married Evelyn Berding on May 31, 1952, at St. Boniface Church in Clinton. Henry worked for Burch Construction Company for many years.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the family in Henry's memory.
