Pavement buckled Monday afternoon on northbound Interstate 380 in Hiawatha, causing a lane closure but no traffic delays.
Police responded around 12:30 p.m. to the damaged pavement and blocked the right lane near the Blairs Ferry Road overpass. Several chunks of concrete littered the highway.
Two workers with the Iowa Department of Transportation chipped out the loose pavement, swept up the debris and patched the roadway with asphalt in less than 10 minutes.
Temperatures were in the low 90s at the time of the incident.
