MARGARET MALIK

Margaret M. Malik, 76, of Cedar Rapids, died Tuesday, May 27, 2014, at Ridgeview Assisted Living Center, Cedar Rapids. Services: 10 a.m. Saturday, May 31, at St. Jude's Catholic Church, Cedar Rapids, by Father Mark Reasoner. The family will receive friends from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, May 30, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids. Burial: St. Patrick's Cemetery, Fairfax.
Survivors include her children, Diane (Mark) Mulbrook of Marion, Linda (Tony) Treece of Lenexa, Kan., and Mike Malik of Washington D.C.; three grandchildren, Jessica Malik and Nathan and Katie Mulbrook; brother, Jim Lefebure of Florida; and many nieces and nephews.
Margaret was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Donald; sister, Jean Robertson; and grandson, Benjamin Mulbrook.
Born July 21, 1937, in
Cedar Rapids, Margaret was the daughter of Armand and Alice (McLaughlin) Lefebure. On June 8, 1957, she was united in marriage to Donald Malik at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Cedar Rapids. He died Dec. 25, 2013. She worked for Prairie Crest Elementary School for 29 years.
Margaret loved spending time with her family. Her main focus was being a mother and grandmother. She especially enjoyed Heidi, her cat, and also enjoyed traveling and sewing.
A special thanks to the staff at Mercy Hospice and Ridgeview Assisted Living Center for the loving care provided over the last several months.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Margaret's memory to
Mercy Hospice.
