Lightning strikes North Liberty home

The North Liberty Police and Fire Departments responded to 15 Vixon Circle in North Liberty around 11 p.m. after the homeowner reported that lightning stuck the home. The homeowner said he was inside the home at the time of the strike and heard a “loud bang.” Police said two people inside the home escaped safely.
Fire crews were observed removing some debris from inside the home, but external damage was not visible. The homeowner said the strike did cause damage to the roof, but he didn't know to what extent. Light smoke lingered outside the home at about 11:30 p.m. At that time any fire had been extinguished.
