IOWA CITY - Thunderous applause echo through the ballroom, voices going hoarse with screaming; watching school after school go and get awards for fifth place, fourth, third place at the NSPA/JEA National Conference in Boston, Mass.
Then Little Hawk editors ran to the stage to get their second place award in “Newspaper Broadsheet 17 or More Pages.”
“Winning this award shows great great leadership by (editors) Jacob (Potash) and Ellen (Carman),” Jonathan Rogers, Little Hawk adviser, said. “They worked really hard with a young staff and pushed them to do great work.”
The Little Hawk also won first place in “Design of the Year for NewsMagazine Cover,” by gradautes Jason Arnold and Nora Holman.
