Legislative review on tap in Coralville
Aug. 5, 2011 12:10 pm
If you live near Coralville and Iowa City and want to know some area legislators' perspectives on how and why things progressed the way they did at the Iowa Statehouse this year the Johnson County Task Force on Aging has a public event for you. It will be on Monday, Aug. 8, at 2 p.m. at the Coralville Public Library, 1401 Fifth St.
State Sen. Bob Dvorsky, D-Coralville, and state Rep. Jeff Kaufmann, R-Wilton, are scheduled to speak and take questions. I will be there. The event is set up so that Iowa City Press-Citizen Executive Editor Jim Lewers and I ask the legislators a series of questions. Then, questions from those in attendance will be asked.
Iowans who followed this year's legislative session certainly know how contentious it was at times, with an elongated session that did not close until the day before the state's new fiscal year began.
Things accomplished, not accomplished
The Aug. 8 event is called
Johnson County Press – A 2011 Legislative Update. Task force member Bob Welsh says the forum will last an hour. All you have to do to participate is show up.
