Passengers flying out of Cedar Rapids are still experiencing flight cancellations and delays due to the impact of Tuesday and Wednesday's winter storm.
Pam Hinman, director of marketing and communications for The Eastern Iowa Airport, said things are slowly returning to normal.
“However, because of the cancellations here and at the various hubs, it takes awhile to get equipment into place,” she said.
Hinman said most of the delays are coming in and out of Chicago, and today passengers are still seeing multiple cancellations.
Starting at 10 a.m., four departing flights were canceled, two from American Airlines, routing to Dallas/Fort Worth and Chicago as well as two United Airlines flights going to Chicago.
Four arriving flights were canceled, all coming in from Chicago O'Hare, and one Denver flight was delayed and arrived a half-hour late.
Passengers who had timely flights today were relieved to escape more of the storm's side effects.
Chaz Weber, one of many Eastern Iowa Airport passengers, said he's very fortunate that Detroit is back on schedule.
“I'm lucky enough to have been in Iowa six days, survived the storm and I'm flying back to Michigan,” Weber said
Airport staff said they aim to have everything running on-time again by late this afternoon or tonight.
