An Iowa City woman faces multiple charges after police say she helped hold a man against his will at her home.
Melody M. Williams, 32, has been arrested on suspicion of malicious prosecution, false imprisonment and false report of an indictable crime to law enforcement authorities.
Police say Williams reported Feb. 22 that a man had entered her apartment and attacked her while she was sleeping. Williams said she had never met the man before. She later identified the man who allegedly attacked her, saying she wished to press charges against him.
After further investigation, police say Williams called the man and invited him to her apartment. Witnesses later told police that the man had arrived in a taxi, and that Williams was waiting outside for him when he arrived.
According to police reports, Williams and an acquaintance later had a disagreement with the man in Williams' bedroom. During the dispute, police say the man was assaulted and held against his will. He allegedly attempted to escape through the bedroom window, but was detained, police said.
Williams was being held at the Johnson County Jail Friday.
