A satisfied voter choosing Tom Slockett

I support Tom Slockett for Johnson County auditor in the upcoming primary because he's played an important role in a nationwide effort by Democrats to increase voter turnout. His long service as elections commissioner has made voting easy and convenient for everyone in the county.
In 2008, the year President Obama was elected, more than 50 percent of votes in Johnson County were early votes. Ours is the only county in the state where that can be said. In a close election, the Johnson County turnout could be decisive. In short, Slockett has changed our county from one that politicos viewed as “transient,” where a low voter turnout could be expected, into one of the counties where the voter turnout is highest.
The Republican Party seeks to keep voting to a minimum by requiring that voters present particular forms of identification and by cutting hours when the polls are open. In November's election and for the foreseeable future, they'll measure their success by how few people vote. Slockett will measure his by how many. I'm another satisfied voter choosing to stick with Slockett.
