No one was hurt when a car struck a school bus as it was stopped to pick up a child in Cedar Rapids this morning.
Officers responded around 7:38 a.m. to the 2900 block of Johnson Avenue NW. They found a white car that had rear-ended the bus. Its hood was crunched up.
Police said the bus was stopped to get a student and had its red lights flashing. The driver of the car told police she was blinded by the sun as she headed east and didn't see the bus in time to stop, police said.
She was cited for failure to maintain control.
Five students were on the Cedar Rapids school district bus, along with the driver and an assistant. Another bus came to pick up the children.
If you're keeping track, this is the third accident involving a Cedar Rapids school bus in eight days. No one has been injured in any of them.
