Suzanne Baker-O'Brian, 62, of Iowa City, died Wednesday, March 5, 2014, at Mercy Hospice in Iowa City. The family will greet friends Sunday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Lensing Funeral & Cremation Service in Iowa City. A memorial service will begin at 2 p.m. Friends and family will gather following the service at The Kirkwood Room adjacent to Lensing Funeral & Cremation.
Instead of flowers, the family requests memorials to the Autism Society of Iowa.
Sue was born Nov. 20, 1951, in Des Moines, the daughter of Emmett L. (Bud) and Kathrine (Lystad) Baker, graduating from West Des Moines Valley High School in 1970.
Sue was a special education teacher in various public schools and finished her career as regional autism services consultant for the State of Iowa, retiring in 2013.
Sue and Dennis O'Brian were married March 18, 1989, in Las Vegas.
Sue is survived by her husband, Dennis O'Brian of Iowa City; brothers, Steven K. Baker (Nan) and John Jay Baker; aunt, Lorelei Baker Goodwill; and cousins, Beth Gambrell, John, Thomas and Julie Goodwill.
Sue was preceded in death by her parents.
