Wind shift leads to Iowa City landfill closure
The Iowa City landfill is closed for the rest of the day due to a change in wind direction.
According to a release from the city of Iowa City, wind is currently blowing smoke from the landfill fire towards the administrative offices.
The landfill is expected to re-open Friday. Until then, the city is advising commercial haulers to drop waste off at the Cedar Rapids-Linn County Solid Waste Agency, at 1954 County Home Road in Marion.
