Iowa values require us to support the Dreamers

Sen. Dick Durbin recently has spoken about putting together a bipartisan agreement in the Senate to protect Dreamers and their legal status. Dreamers are the most vulnerable among previously undocumented immigrants, as they came here as children through no fault of their own. I can think of nothing more cruel than ripping the only home they've ever known from them. I expect that when the time comes, our Senators will support a bipartisan agreement to protect Dreamers, and show the rest of the United States what it means to be 'Iowa-nice.”

Growing up in Iowa, I always was surrounded by the atmosphere of hospitality and kindness that is at the core of every Iowan and I hope our senators' actions stay true to that.
