Last-second basket trips up UNI at Missouri State

It went down to the final second last night, and the result knotted Northern Iowa and Missouri State in a tie for third place in the Missouri Valley Conference women's basketball standings.
Northern Iowa senior Brooke Brown hit a 3-pointer with eight seconds to tie the game at 70, but the Bears' Kenzie Williams hit a jumper in the paint with a second on the clock for a 72-70 Missouri State victory at Springfield, Mo.
Brown led the Panthers (14-12, 10-5) with a career-high 20 points, shooting 60 percent from the field and 50 percent from the 3-point arc. Madison Weekly chipping in 15 points and six rebounds, and Amber Sorenson added 12 points and six rebounds.
Tyonna Snow had 25 points for Missouri State (13-13, 10-5).
The score was tied seven times, and lead changed hands four times. The Panthers' largest lead was five points late in the first half on two free throws by Ellie Herzberg.
UNI plays Sunday at league-leader Wichita State. The Shockers (14-1) pulled ahead of Drake (13-2) with an 80-59 victory last night in Wichita, Kan.
