Joel Miller should focus on doing his job

Once again, Joel Miller has shown why he should not be elected to the Linn County Board of Supervisors.

As auditor, Miller's attention should be on his duties as head of elections. Instead, Miller devotes his energy to second guessing and tweeting rude comments about other county officials. If Miller was performing his duties as auditor perfectly this conduct would still be questionable, but the primary election highlighted Miller's failure to do his job.

Under Miller's watch, June primary election ballots were sent to the wrong precincts, this shouldn't happen once, let alone multiple times.

Miller's new electronic election system crashed for several hours causing unnecessary delays. Linn County was one of the last counties to report election results. Despite a record primary turnout in Johnson County, 100 percent of Johnson County's vote was in and reported before Linn County had even reported 20 percent of the vote.

Last year, Miller's office inadvertently released Social Security data of Linn County voters. Miller should focus on doing his job instead of running for supervisor. Linn County deserves better.
