Nzoyisaba reigns in Iowa City

IOWA CITY -- Metro boys swept the top three spots at the Iowa City West Invitational cross country meet Thursday afternoon at the Ashton Cross Country Course.Etienne Nzoyisaba of Cedar Rapids Washington was the champion in 16:01. He was followed by Mitch Pritts of Cedar Rapids Prairie and Joe Berry of Washington.Iowa City West's boys and Cedar Rapids Kennedy's girls were team champs.West had four boys in the top nine, led by Bailey Wetherell (fourth) and scored 42 points. Washington was second with 70.Kennedy remained unbeaten through six meets, placing four runners in the top eight for a 36-point display. West was second with 57.Ashlynn Yokom of West was the first girl to cross, in 14:16.Shannon Gorman of Washington was second. Kennedy's Katie Wampole, Alyssa Averhoff, Allison Culver and Lauren Meyer were third, fourth, sixth and eighth.
