Iowa City VA offers exceptional care

I need to write to let people in Iowa know about the Veterans Affairs hospital in Iowa City.
My husband was very ill when we moved back to Iowa after living in Arizona for 18 years. I had no problem getting him in to the VA hospital. It was a breath of fresh air after having to go to the VA in Phoenix. There were several times in the 8 years he was cared for that I would call and say he needed to be seen. They would always say, 'How soon can you have him here?” There was never a time when we were put off. He was hospitalized several times and he had very good care.
He was on oxygen 24 hours a day, this was supplied by the VA. It was delivered to the house along with the tubing and oxygen masks. The VA also supplied a wheelchair and a sleep apnea machine.
My husband, Pat, passed away 9 years ago. His doctor at the VA phoned to talk to me that evening to express his sympathy. That to me was beyond the call of duty. Iowa does an excellent job for the veterans. At least they took good care of my husband.
