Ochenfels, Jeannette Marie

Jeannette Marie Ockenfels, 74, of Iowa City, died Saturday, March 27, 2010, at Washington County Hospital in Washington following a brief illness. Visitation for family and friends will be Tuesday, March 30, from 4 to 6 p.m. at Lensing Funeral and Cremation Service in Iowa City. Graveside services will be at a later date at St. Michael's Cemetery in Norway, Iowa.

Jeannette was born April 12, 1935, in Cedar Rapids, the daughter of Leo and Jeannette Lichty Ockenfels. Jeannette had been employed by Goodwill Industries and was involved with Systems Unlimited and Reach For Your Potential. A longtime Iowa City resident, Jeannette had recently moved to the Washington Care Center.

Survivors include her siblings, Lawrence (Joan) Ockenfels of Gilbert, Ariz., Joanne (Mac) Brownlie of Prescott, Ariz., Rosalind (Bill) Strabala of Arvada, Colo., Leo (Coleen) Ockenfels of Vinton, Mary Ockenfels of Iowa City, Jim (Terry) Ockenfels of Noblesville, Ind., and Bernadette (Joe) Carratura of Prescott, Ariz.; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded by her parents, and three siblings, David, John and Sharon.
