Iowa math TA removed from post after emailing nude photos to students

Oct. 24, 2013 1:54 pm
A University of Iowa teaching assistant who made news Wednesday after accidentally sending nude photos of herself to students instead of answers to a homework assignment has been removed from her position.
The former TA for a UI pre-calculus course remains a TA but has been assigned to non-teaching duties, said UI spokesman Tom Moore.
News of the gaffe spread like wildfire on social media Wednesday, with students using Twitter to poke fun at the incident, and various college-related websites posting updates on the story throughout the day.
UI officials confirmed the incident, said they were taking appropriate action and asked students to delete the content of the email. The TA's name has not been made public.
According to student Tweets and TotalFratMove.com, which claims to be the “No. 1 college comedy website,” the TA sent an email to about 80 students that she meant to include attached answers for a homework assignment.
Instead, the attachments were a series of nude photos “featuring the female TA and male counterpart – possibly screenshots from a sex video.”
A copy of the TA's email obtained by the website reads, “Hi class, I attach the solutions for number 76 and 78 in this email. Best.” The photos are described as being images from a video chat that are sexual in nature, according to TotalFratMove.com.
A student in the class told the website that the TA was in back in class on Wednesday “trying to act like nothing happened but clearly very rattled.”
