Honor Flight was memorable experience

To the editor:
I wish to thank the sponsors and the volunteers who have made the Eastern Iowa Honor Flights such memorable experiences.
My daughter, Susan, went as my escort. She was in the United States Navy for four years, serving in the military longer than I. I also want to thank all of the family and friends who made the day so special. The reception upon our return to the Cedar Rapids airport was awesome.
I did notice when reading The Gazette the following day that we missed the fellows in Iowa City who were commemorating, also on Oct. 20, the 50th anniversary of the first draft card burnings. Shucks.
