To the editor:
Regarding Orlan Love's Dec. 30 article 'Let the rivers run”:
In addition to making our rivers safer and more friendly to recreational activities such as kayaking, canoeing, fishing and clamming, I would suggest we incorporate flow slowing techniques that keep our soil where it is and help keep the pollutants out of our rivers, streams and lakes.
The advent of cross-jurisdictional work through watershed authorities and regional park plans and projects must include soil conservation and water quality components so the water we play in can be cleaner and contain fewer toxins. Wouldn't it be great if we could see the end of our paddle in the water?
