Iowa receives votes in AP top 25

Iowa's men's basketball team opens the season unranked by the Associated Press, according to the preseason poll released this morning.
Iowa registered the second-most points (58) of any team outside the top 25. Harvard and Utah are tied for 25th with 98 points, and Stanford had 71 points. The Hawkeyes are ranked 25th in the season's inaugural USA Today/Coaches poll.
Five Big Ten schools open the season in the top 25, paced by No. 3 Wisconsin. Others include Michigan State (18), Ohio State (20), Nebraska (21) and Michigan (24). Minnesota, Illinois and Maryland also received votes.
Defending Big 12 tournament champion Iowa State opens the season ranked 14th. Other Big 12 schools ranked include Kansas (5), Texas (10) and Oklahoma (19). Kansas State, Oklahoma State, Baylor and West Virginia also received votes.
Kentucky opens the season No. 1, followed by Arizona.
