Letter: Health care plan hurts vulnerable

Mohandas Gandhi reminded us: 'A nation's greatness is measured by how it treats its weakest members.” Sensible people worldwide understand nations demonstrate greatness, truth, equity and fair-play by meeting the basic human needs of all members of society.
Ebenezer Scrooge offered a different perspective: 'Let them die and decrease the surplus population.”
The inevitable results of the latest health care plan indicate the Senate adopted Mr. Scrooge's philosophy while shutting out greatness, truth, equity and fairness by giving tax cuts to the wealthy at the expense of the most vulnerable.
