State neglects natural resources

I'm in agreement with Jim Walters as to the lack of caring about our natural resources (“Don't let Iowa Legislature rest,” Dec. 17).
Our cute little spotted black-and-green leopard frogs are gone, as are the chubs and minnows from our small creeks and streams.
No one speaks of this tragedy. Our Department of Natural Resources and conservation people seem to be more bent on projects that bring in cash -- more places for kayakers on our rivers, improved water and electrical hookups in our campgrounds. They seem to ignore the pollution of our precious water, land and air.
Why are we letting our precious natural resources go to hell? Maybe we should rename our creeks and streams drainage ditches?
