Video Sessions — The possibilities with the staff opening

Video No. 1 - Iowa coach Kirk Ferentz speaks about recruiting coordinator/defensive line assistant Eric Johnson's departure. It was a bit of a surprised. Johnson told Ferentz on Friday. Where does Ferentz go with this job? He's still exploring those options. The hire, however, will likely be the recruiting coordinator. Will he go the personnel director route that every other Big Ten school, and the majority of CFP schools, has taken? That's to be decided. Also, TE Jon Wisnieski
has suffered what sounded like a season-ending knee injury.
Video No. 2 - Iowa offensive coordinator Greg Davis on QBs Jake Rudock and C.J. Beathard. Davis said he's been pleased with both QBs. And, yes, Iowa has considered a special package of plays for Beathard. CONSIDERED. I tried to get at whether or not that was because of Beathard's skills as a runner, but doesn't sound like it. Question on higher tempo, more plays. Question on personnel groups. OL depth is shaky. Yes, what we saw of WR Derrick Willies
in Des Moines two weeks ago has been happening all spring. You'll note Davis' comment on the upgrade at WR from his first day at Iowa two years ago.
Video No. 3 - Wrinkles in the running game, zone plays vs. gap plays. Rudock is the definite No. 1. I asked about fullbacks. It seemed as though the position was dying out a few years ago. It is not. Recruiting at Iowa vs. Texas. Yes, it's harder. Texas never had to leave the state. At 7:35, we talk running back. Davis said, yes, Iowa overdid it with RB Mark Weisman
early on. He doesn't make people miss and that takes a toll.
I think there's a lot in the Davis interviews you'll find interesting.
